Description: This is a beautiful First World War German 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class on a bow for nurses that remains in excellent condition. The magnetic iron center has a pristine stove black finish that is without blemish. The crown, monogram ‘W’, and 1914 date are all sharp and well-defined on the obverse as well as to the crown, letters ‘FW’, oak leaves, and 1813 date on the reverse. The silver frame has an attractive age toned patina. The cross is mounted on an original length of ribbon that is tied in a bow type configuration for wear by nurses and has a pin sewn to the reverse of the center knot. If there are any markings on the jumper ring, they are hidden by the bow. It remains a fine-looking example in excellent, undamaged condition and as worn by Imperial German nurses and female recipients. 8994
