Description: US Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry Sword with Scabbard. Completely unmarked, likely German manufactured. The grip and pommel are tight, the guard wiggles. The grip leather is 95% complete. The twisted wire wrap is complete. The blade is straight, sharpened, some nicks, and has age spots scattered. The scabbard is solid with a couple dents/dings, lead seam, possibly chromed or nickeled at some point (mainly on one side, for display?), light pitting with surface rust scattered throughout. Washer is missing. Length of the blade is 36 1/4" (1 1/4" wide and 3/8" thick), the sword is 41 11/16", and in the scabbard it is 42 7/8". Check out my other War Items!
