The matte paint on the inside of the lens barrel is flaking off which can be seen in the photos. This is not uncommon on some of these lenses. Looking through the lens there is no evidence of any material in the lens so we believe that it will not affect the photos. Auto focus and aperture control work. The manual focusing barrel turns smoothly. The zoom barrel turns smoothly. The lens is clean cosmetically
