Description: Delighted to present the highly collectable First editions illustrated by Caldecott, either first or second printings; Old Christmas dated 1876 and Bracebridge Hall dated 1877. Two vols, octavo. Original publisher's green cloth, spines and front covers lettered and decorated in gilt, brown endpapers, edges gilt. Frontispieces with tissue guard in tact. The old Christmas is split at page 94/5 as shown in pics; the the spine is still attached and should be an easy fix. Overall there is the usual spotting and yellowing throughout. Braceridge hall is in excellent shape. The edges are touched and shelf bumped with a few glitches and marks on all boards. Ownership inscription to front pastedown saying Xmas 1976. Gilt bright, cocked spines slightly fraying at ends, tiny corner wear, Bracebridge Hall with mottled rear cover, a little cockling, and inner hinges cracked but holding; outer leaves of both lightly foxed, else clean. Very good copies.
