BID WITH CONFIDENCE - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED NEWFOUNDLAND 191 1932 5c DEEP VIOLET DIE II CARIBOU 1ST RESOURCES PAIR VF MNH Pair of the five cent, deep violet, Caribou stamp from the 1932-38 'First Resources' issue of 1932, engraved, Coat of Arms watermark (position 1 - see scans), Die II (antler tip under 'T' of 'POSTAGE' is higher than the antler tip under the 'S' of 'POSTAGE'). Comb perf. 13.5x13.5 (total of 11 perf varieties in this issue recorded to date, 3 of the 5c deep violet, Die II stamp). Produced by Perkins, Bacon and Company of London in 1932 (the 48c fishing fleet stamp was issued in 1938) using engravings by Alfred Downey, C. Sigrist, and Harold Wolfenden of images by various photographers from Newfoundland (natural resources) and Europe (portraits of various royal subjects). Stamps were printed on medium weight, crisp, white wove paper with horizontal mesh, white (almost colorless) gum. Good color and appearance, well centered. Mint, never-hinged original gum. Good fault-free example of this popular stamp series that helped to showcase Newfoundland's natural resources and beloved Royal personages. Stamp shown is a good representative of those that are available. If the stamp received fails to meet expectations, it may be returned for a replacement or full refund. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot.
