Description: British Guiana Stamps 1877 6c Brown Opt with T O2; SGO9 Used CV £800 Pricing reflects presence of faults Observed Perforation FaultsThe perforations on the left side, right side and base are fully developed - faultless - see scansThe perforation on the top is damaged at the top left The last 3 perforations on the top right are damaged - see scan Appearance FaultsThe stamp has a heavy smudge obliterationAbove the letter E of POSTAGE, there is a white mark crossing the outer frame line, but not the inner frame line. It is not clear whether this is a printing artifact, or a surface defect, or whether it relates to a minor tear. The stamp has a hinge remnant adhering to it behind this mark - see scans The computer generated certificates are provided to indicate number of perforations per 2 cm and stamp centring grade (PSE scale). The grading on the first certificate has not been adjusted for faults or for appearance. Numerical stamp grading (other than for centring) is subjective, and varies with country, stamp age and stamp rarity. As a guide on rare stamps, the grading and price discount for faults and appearance is less than for common stamps from the same region. Three computerised grading certificates are provided for this stamp to show its PSE grade if faultless, or with different fault and appearance levels. Different people looking at the same stamp may make different subjective judgements relating to the numerical adjustments associated with faults and appearance. PSE Grading taken from the 2008 PSE publication: A guide to the grading and expertizing United States stamps. PSE Grading Scale states for Faults Faultless The stamp is completely sound, free of all faults.
