Description: St. Louis is an independent city in the state of Missouri located near the confluence of the Mississippi and the Missouri Rivers. In 2020 it had a population of 301,578. It was founded in 1764, by French fur traders from New Orleans. They named it for King Louis IX of France, and it quickly became the regional center of the French Illinois Country. It was then ceded to Great Britain who ceded it to Spain who ceded it to France who sold it to the United States as part of the Louisiana Purchase. It developed as a major port on the Mississippi and became an independent city in 1877. This is a beautiful greetings card, published by “E.C. Kropp” that chronicles “The Levee” in a vignette with a flower border. It is a Private Mailing card that is in excellent condition with minor wear and a clean, clear, sharp image. The reverse is also clean.
