Description: P1118 Schulco Automated Permanent Mold Dual Platen Nonferrous Casting System - Model HSDP18x18 - This system works in three modes: FULLY AUTOMATIC (Let a robot ladle the metal and take the automatically removed riser and sprue back to the furnace), SEMI AUTOMATIC (Hand ladle the molten metal and let the computer control the cycle) or MANUAL (Hand ladle the molten metal and use the control unit switches to make things happen). A single platen prototype unit ran 150,000 parts without any major problems while interfaced with a standard robot arm. That system once ran 24/7 for three weeks during initial testing. This particular system has never been used in production. It was on display at Castexpo in St Louis in 2005. This is a static pour, gravity feed permanent mold casting system. Gating block system allows unobstructed pouring area, low clamping pressures, easy die maintenance, automated riser and sprue removal and air blast cleaning. U-shaped die holder allows fast and easy die changes, use of cartridge heaters and thermal isolation. Ejector pin system allows fast and easy changes along with extended ejector pin movement. Control system allows easy linking to robots or ladlers. Last picture shows how the machine can pull its own gating blocks up in the air for die maintenance when the tilt stops have been lifted. System consists of the molding machine (Set up to accept 18" x 18" quick-change dies)and it's control unit (Contains hydrapak, computer, monitor, switches, indicator lights opto-isolator boards and temperature controllers. System can be monitored by (1) Remote video feed, (2) Program display scrolling on the computer monitor, (3) LED display of the opto-isolator units, (4) Indicator lights on the control panel or (5) Indicator lights on the solenoid banks on the back of the machine. The machine is running in DOS and is programmed in GW BASIC. The molding machine and robot (Not included) interact by ending a program with the command to the other to start it's program. Upgrading to a windows computer and modern software is easy. All program commands are followed by REM statements. Hydraulics in this unit operate at 500psig (not 5000) which gives a safety factor of 5 times on cylinders and hoses. If you want to start your own non-ferrous foundry, start automating an existing foundry or just want to vertically integrate to have better control over your casting inventory, take a closer look at this unit. This is an automated system and will have to be installed under the safety rules for automated equipment currently in force. Winning bidder will have to sign a legal document stating that will be done. We will load at no charge on a truck you send and pay for. We have a forklift for loading. If you do not have a freight carrier we can provide a freight quote. If you want a freight quote, send the full delivery address including zip code, state if delivery address is in a commercial area (Saves the residential delivery charge) and state if there is a dock or forklift available (Saves the lift gate truck charge). To view a free detailed Powerpoint presentation on CD that shows pictures and video of this machine dry cycling, email a request through eBay. Include your name and full address. A CD will be mailed to you. There are two machines shown in the video. The one in this listing is the larger of the two. Price includes the blank die (Made of H13 tool steel) Price has been deep-discounted to sell the unit and make space for the next project.
