Mass-produced and relatively cheap, it was given as a purchase premium or awarded as prizes at fairs and carnivals. It was the first carnival glass, preceding the iridized pieces we know as carnival glass today. Goofus glass stopped production around 1930. Manufactured by the Northwood Company with factories in Indiana, PA, South Wheeling and Wheeling WV. and Bridgeport OH.
