Description: Antique Gold Painted Goofus Glass Plate, Red Roses 10.5". Originally given as premiums at carnivals, Goofus Glass was made from about 1890 to 1920 or so. Because it was cheaply made and cold painted, the paint chips easily. Thus, the popular name of this glass with unavoidable imperfections became Goofus Glass. This piece is no exception with some paint loss which is expected on a piece over 100 years old. These pieces are rare, hard to find with no chips or cracks. This piece does not have cracks or chips and is very good condition but does have paint loss.
