Description: Presented is a wonderful 18th century, 1700s, Dutch silver creamer or hot milk jug made by Johannes Koop. This silversmith was active from 1737 to 1785. The creamer is raised up on a pedestal base and has a hinged lid with a fluted thumbpiece and a classical urn finial. The area below the spout is embellished with an applied leaf design. The underside of the creamer is stamped with a maker’s mark of JK for Johannes Koop. It is also stamped twice with a shield city mark, most likely for the city of Zwolle. There is also a P stamp, certainly for the date. This creamer or milk jug was made between the 1730s to the 1780s. The creamer has a few flaws, but overall it is in good condition, especially considering its age. There is a small dent to the base, and the creamer wobbles a bit when it is resting on a flat surface. The hinge on the lid is a bit loose, but it still works fine. There is probably an old repair to the side of the creamer which is most visible from the interior. Actually, I am not sure that this is even a repair. The pedestal base is slightly separated from the body where it meets the body. Any and all of these issues could easily be corrected. Otherwise, the creamer is in excellent condition with only a few minor dents and dings here and there. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, and no other problems. The creamer measures 3 1/2 inches from handle to spout and 4 3/4 inches tall. The weight is 156.7 grams or 5.5 ounces. Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
