Filtration and Water Changes: Use a quality filtration system to keep the water clean and free from harmful substances. 4. Compatible Tank Mates: Choose tank mates that are peaceful and compatible with guppies. Avoid aggressive or fin-nipping species that may harass or stress them. 5. Feeding: Offer a varied diet consisting of high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with occasional treats such as freeze-dried or live foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia. Drip Acclimation Here?s how to drip acclimate guppies: q Prepare Materials: Gather a clean bucket or container, an airline tubing with a control valve or a knot tied in it, and a drip line or air control valve. q Set Up the Drip Line: Attach one end of the airline tubing to your aquarium's water source (the tank you're moving the guppies into) and start a siphon. You can do this by sucking on the other end of the tubing until water begins to flow. q Adjust the Flow Rate: Adjust the flow rate using the control valve or by adjusting the knot in the tubing. You want a slow, steady drip, around 1-2 drips per second. q Float the Bag: Float the bag containing the guppies in the aquarium for about 15-20 minutes to allow the water temperature inside the bag to gradually equalize with the aquarium water temperature. q Start Dripping: After floating the bag, open it and secure it to the rim of the bucket or container. Allow the water from the aquarium to drip slowly into the bag. You can use a clip or tie to secure the bag in place. q Monitor and Adjust: Monitor the water level in the bucket or container and adjust the drip rate as needed to maintain a steady flow. The goal is to double the volume of water in the bag over the course of about 30-60 minutes. q Transfer Fish: Once the water volume in the bag has doubled, carefully net the guppies out of the bag and transfer them to the aquarium. Avoid adding the water from the bag to the aquarium to prevent introducing any potential pathogens or contaminants. q Dispose of Excess Water: Dispose of the water in the bucket or container, as it may contain waste or pathogens from the fish's transport bag.
