1880-S Morgan Dollar NGC MS66+ Blazer, Semi-PL w/ Proof-Like Obv, Plus Grade Gem

Description: For your consideration ... ... an 1880-S Morgan Dollar certified MS 66+ by NGC. This coin is a semi-PL blazer, with a proof-like obverse and a reverse that's close but doesn't quite reach PL depth. The obverse features a frosty Liberty with little chatter overall and nice PL contrast. Some mild chafe on her cheek and nose are the only noteworthy chatter and all but a thin, horizontal run isn't visible in hand. The reverse is almost as nice, with some reflectivity and frosty devices. Typical chatter is seen in the fields, but only upon close inspection, and even then, there's nothing that jumps out at you. Though not noted on the holder, this coin is a VAM 22, which features a doubled "880" and the large "S" mint mark. This VAM is noteworthy for the "claws" that jut out from the right side of both loops of the second "8", part of its doubling. Like most markers, these are only visible with a loupe or other magnifying device.+++ If you have questions about this or any item, please let us know.
